IPSC Canada National Training Program Black Badge Course
The IPSC Canada National Training Program’s Black Badge course is required for individuals wishing to participate in competitive shooting events sanctioned by the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). Upon successful completion of the Black Badge course students will possess the necessary prerequisites to safely compete in sanctioned IPSC matches and other action firearm events.
Topics included in the IPSC Canada Black Badge Course include:
o Handgun safety and safe handling practices
o Fundamentals of effective handgun marksmanship
o Safe and efficient deployment of a handgun from a holster
o Speed shooting and speed reloading techniques
o Sighted vs. unsighted shooting
o Alternate shooting positions (barricades, ports, obstacles etc.)
o Engaging multiple targets
o Primary and support had shooting techniques
o Safe and efficient movement with a loaded handgun
o Stoppage and malfunction clearance techniques
o IPSC style “Mini Match” to reinforce skills taught in class
o Semi-Automatic Handgun or Revolver (minimum caliber: 9 mm)
o Gun Belt, Holster, Magazine Pouches, minimum of 4 magazines (Holster must completely cover handgun’s trigger guard. Thigh rig / drop-down / cross-draw / shoulder holsters are not permitted.
o Gun belts must be suitable to securely support holster handgun and loaded magazines. Use of standard dress belts is STRONGLY discouraged. SERPA or similar retention style holsters are not permitted for use in this class.
o Hearing and Eye Protection (Mandatory) * recommend electronics
o Baseball Cap with Brim (Strongly recommended)
o 500 Rounds of Pistol Ammunition
o Restricted PAL (or firearm provided and transported to and from range by a Restricted PAL holder)
o Youth need to have guardian present during class.
o $350 / Student
